Business Networking, Out On The Water
Business Networking, Out On The Water
Fishing for Business Owners is a networking group for business owners who fancy trying something different, whether fishing is already your thing or you've never picked up a fishing rod in your life.
Twice a year, once in May and once in September, we charter a boat and take a group of founders and directors out for a full day's sea fishing off the south coast of England. Eight hours on the water, no phones ringing, no pitch decks. Just you, a rod, and a boat full of other people who understand exactly what running a business is like.
Why fishing, not golf
Golf takes four hours, needs your own kit, and puts you next to the same three people all day. A day's boat fishing puts ten or more business owners on one deck for eight hours, with nothing to do but talk, help each other land fish, and compare notes on the stuff that actually keeps you up at night. It's a better room, and it costs a lot less than a membership.
How it works
- You book a place on an upcoming trip from Portsmouth or Weymouth.
- You turn up with lunch, a drink, and clothing for the weather. The skipper supplies every rod, reel and bit of bait, and shows you exactly what to do.
- You fish, and you network, eight hours alongside other business owners, with tea and coffee on board.
- You go home with new contacts, a few good stories, and quite possibly dinner.

Who it's for
Open to any UK business owner or director: any gender, any background, any level of fishing experience (none required). We welcome anglers with disabilities; boat access depends on the specific vessel. See who can join for details. The one rule: you need to own or direct a UK-registered company. This is a business owners' network, not a general fishing club.
Where we go
Trips run from Portsmouth on the Solent and Weymouth in Dorset, two of the best sea fishing grounds on the south coast, with everything from black bream and bass to conger eel and rays on the cards. See the full list of fish you could catch.
